Dr. Catrina Dolores RoccoCatrina Dolores Rocco, Ph.D., is running for the one board seat vacancy. This is a five-year seat beginning July 1, 2022, and ending June 30, 2027. A Department Chair for Liberal Arts and General Studies at a two-year college in Albany, Dr. Rocco was formerly a Principal of a New York State 853 Special Act School and two parochial schools. “I believe I can be of great service to this school community due to my understanding of curriculum, instruction, evaluation, finance, personnel management, and collective bargaining agreements,” said Dr. Rocco. “I also understand the political lens through which the public examines schools.”

Among the important challenges facing the district, Dr. Rocco cites endemic programing and increasing the four-year graduation rate, particularly for students with disabilities. Another priority it to reduce chronic absenteeism, especially among diverse subgroups. She also believes in working to ensure Spackenkill remains a high-performing district for years to come.
